At Little Champs Nursery we implement the Margret McMillan approach. Margret McMillan campaigned for improved conditions for children. She believed hungry children cannot learn and we at Little Champs Nursery agree and therefore provide free meals for all children attending, as well as healthy and nutritious snacks and drinks throughout the day. Margret McMillan believed that children need to be active and enjoy outside learning to develop and improve their health. We have large outdoor areas where babies and children are involved in exciting learning opportunities covering all areas of the EYFS. Children are able to enjoy playing out in all weathers and we promote the importance of learning through play. Margret McMillan saw the importance of active learning and a nursery education, emphasising the importance of good nutrition, physical and emotional well being.
We at Little Champs Nursery take security very seriously. We have a video intercom system which allows our staff to see who is at the door ahead of granting access. Only Authorised people will be allowed to collect your child. We have a state of the art CCTV system in place throughout the nursery which allows management to observe all rooms throughout the day. We have found this also gives our parents piece of mind when viewing how well their child has settled/watching them interacting with their friends. All staff go through a rigorous recruitment vetting system and have a DBS disclosure.
- At Little Champs Nursery we value the importance of creating a home from home environment. To enable us to do this your child will have a named key person within their group room. Key persons are responsible for looking after the needs of a small group of children and working alongside parents and carers to ensure children’s individual needs are met. A key person is the bridge between home and nursery they will be responsible where possible for your child’s daily care. And also keeping detailed records of your child’s development in line with the EYFS and giving you regular progress reports
- We are always welcome in our setting we believe that in creating strong partnerships with parents and maintaining a consistent approach is hugely beneficial for the children. We encourage parental involvement during assembly’s, Children’s trips , Open days, coffee evenings. And we operate an open door policy where parents are always welcome to come
